The Breath Before The Flames

 January, Before the Fire
January didn’t arrive loudly.
It came in measured breaths.
In pauses.
In the quiet work no one claps for.

This month asked for shedding before speaking.
For listening before acting.
For staying still long enough to hear what was no longer true.

The snake doesn’t rush its skin.
It releases what has already loosened.

That’s what January felt like.
Old identities thinning.
Old reactions losing their grip.
Patterns dissolving without drama.

There was clarity, but not the sharp kind.
More like the calm that settles after something heavy is set down.
A return to center.
A remembering of breath.

Inhale.
Exhale.
Again.

This wasn’t the month of fire.
It was the month of preparation.

The inner work.
The recalibration.
The quiet alignment that happens when you stop forcing outcomes
and start trusting your nervous system again.

January taught restraint.
Not as limitation, but as wisdom.
Not everything needs to be expressed immediately.
Some things need to be held
until they’re ready to burn clean.

Awakening doesn’t always feel electric.
Sometimes it feels like peace.
Like space.
Like finally having enough room inside yourself to stand upright again.

The shedding isn’t finished.
But it’s honest.

And what comes next won’t need to fight its way through resistance.
It will rise naturally.
Fueled.
Clear.

January was the breath before the flame.
